So you want to be a Thember?
Every year Them participates in a wide variety of performances across campus and throughout New Orleans. But we find that what really makes us stand out is how we love to push a cappella musical boundaries to the limit by always choosing to sing an eclectic mix of songs every semester, often ranging from Chance to the Lake Street Dive. We are an adventurous bunch of music lovers, but most of all we just love jamming out and having fun with each other.
The fall is especially exciting for us as we delight in welcoming new Thembers into the ranks! This year our auditions will be as follows:
Saturday 8/31 from 3-5 pm in Dixon 201
Sunday 9/1 from 1-3 pm in Dixon 107
If you get a callback opportunity, it will be on Monday 9/2 from 12-2 pm in Dixon 201.
We can't wait to meet the next generation of Them and we hope you join us!
What should I do to prepare?
For your audition, please prepare a verse and chorus of your favorite song, or a song that you think reflects your vocal ability the best. Usually the length prepared should fall within a minute or two.
We look for a variety of skills beyond being a great singer: if you are a vocal percussionist, choreographer, arranger, developer, designer, rapper, or have prior leadership experience, we'd love to hear about it!
If you have additional questions, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
How often do you guys rehearse?
We typically rehearse for 5 hours a week. We have a 2 hour rehearsal Sunday night and Tuesday night and then a 1 hour focus group sometime during the course of the week depending on student schedules.
What happens if my callback/audition conflicts with another group's?
We understand you'll audition for other groups, and we encourage that you find the one with the right fit for you. There shouldn't be any conflicts because we coordinate with other groups, but if we made a mistake, contact email@example.com immediately.
